Understand assistant results

Check an assistant’s answer before you use it to make a decision. Sources and context help you investigate how a response was produced; they do not guarantee that it is correct.

Read the answer and supporting sources

  1. Check that the answer addresses your question and the workspace you intended to use.
  2. Review the source titles and excerpts shown with the answer. Look for support for the specific statement you want to rely on.
  3. Check the original material through your organization’s approved document access when you need more context or to confirm that the guidance is current.
  4. Ask a narrower follow-up if the answer leaves something unclear.

A source may have been retrieved as context without supporting every claim in the answer. If an answer has no sources, you cannot verify it through a displayed source list; ask for clarification or consult the underlying material before relying on it.

What a relevance score means

When a score is shown beside a source, it describes how that source matched the question in the retrieval process. It is not the probability that the answer is correct. Scores depend on the configured search method, so avoid treating them as a universal quality threshold.

Understand missing or restricted information

An answer reflects the knowledge and access available for the question. Missing information can mean the material is outside the configured sources, access is restricted, or the search did not find what you expected. Ask the document owner or workspace operator to investigate rather than treating an incomplete answer as proof that no information exists.

Inspect context and give feedback

When present, Sources shows retrieved document titles, excerpts, and available relevance scores. Recalled context shows prior user or assistant turns returned as memory matches, with similarity scores. Review those excerpts when checking an answer. These sections are not a complete account of all context considered and do not reveal the model’s private reasoning.

Use the feedback controls shown with the answer to report whether it was useful. If you include a comment, describe the issue and relevant source without adding information your organization does not permit you to share.

If the answer appears wrong

Check the supporting material, clarify your question, and report a persistent problem to your workspace operator. For consequential decisions, use your organization’s required review or approval process.
